PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

However, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
